Finding Your Community By Lifting Each Other

I believe that to belong to a gang or posse of like minded individuals can bring a sense of acceptance and accountability into your life. One is the loneliest number that there ever was, so I am in favor of genuine relationships that lift and bring positivity to the front.

Sometimes that might mean that you become vulnerable and you have to put yourself “out there.” But with the right set of people, this can be your saving grace. Let me be completely honest with you. I am that person who has been hurt in social situations. Not once or twice but many times over. This has taken me to a place of loneliness and not wanting to be around the company of other women. I took myself out of the equation because being alone is better than getting hurt. In my mind, and this is my opinion, I was not acceptable, I didn’t fit the mold. I felt that because maybe I looked a certain way or spoke and dressed differently that I just didn’t fit in.

This brings self pity, sadness, bitterness and definitely a place of loneliness. This is a place that I took myself to and stayed there for decades. I didn’t want to share anymore and I definitely did not want to belong to any community of women. That was a place where I got hurt and wasn’t included. I couldn’t see beyond the hurt and frustration and was so wrapped up in my pain that nothing seemed to matter.

Fast forward to today where I still don’t have a big group of women that I belong to, but only a small handful of genuine friends. I do crave a community of like minded women who are really wanting to be lifted and share in commonalities. I have created a group “Women Deserve to L.I.F.T” which stands for “Loving yourself, Inspire others, Fitness and body, and Train your brain.” it doesn’t just refer to lifting weights. I would love to have you join if this speaks to you.

The need to finally find my community is there. Finding women who respect each other and are less judgmental are the women I want to associate with. I believe that with positive and constructive feedback and genuine interest this group will be a success. Please find my group on Facebook and join. Together great things can happen.
